In the language of alchemy the transition of a metal or a person from a rough to a noble state means a development towards their own secret identity, a process of regeneration which leaves every metal the metal par excellence (gold) and every person pure and incorruptible.
Alongside this philosophical current evolved a less utopian but similarly meticulous field of study, carried out by enlightened artisans for whom the ultimate goal was the discovery of the essence of nature and the land and its transformation.
The alembics, imaginative symbols of an esoteric journey, became the essential tools for obtaining magical distillates. This still holds true today.
