Pasta doesn’t make you fat. It’s easily digestible, low in fat and protein.
A hundred grams of pasta has an energy value of around 360 kcal; 70-72% in the form of complex carbohydrates, 10-13% in protein and a minimal fat content. These figures mean we can now finally disprove the cliché which has for too long disturbed the calm of our peaceful dietary lifestyle: “Pasta is fattening.” In reality, when eaten with simple sauces, without adding too much fat, pasta is the ideal food before any physical exertion; thanks to its sugars and carbohydrates, it gives our cells the energy necessary for the body’s functions.
So pasta itself is not fattening.
Instead it’s the sauce which should be calibrated based on individual dietary needs. With a low fat and protein content, and easily digestible, pasta lends itself well to the preparation of many imaginative and nutritious dishes, paired with fish, meat, cheese, vegetables, beans, olive oil…the possibilities are endless.
