Grapevines flourish here because of the excellent drainage of the southern-exposure terrain, with considerable variations in temperature due to its location near the River Piave and the Adriatic sea.
The hilly Montello zone, on the right bank of the River Piave, covers 6,000 hectares and encompasses the towns of Crocetta del Montello, Giavera, Montebelluna, Nervesa and Volpago. Once covered by dense oak forests, the hills were gradually stripped for the building of Venice. Later the land was used for farming, with positive effects on the nearby cities of Treviso and Venice. Rich in history and rural traditions, this land was blessed with the presence of Nervesa Abbey, a hub for culture and agricultural knowledge.
The Serafini & Vidotto winery is located in the Montello zone, and in just a few years has become one of the most noted in the Treviso area and among the greatest interpreters of the Cabernet grape in northeast Italy. Based in Nervesa della Battaglia, the winery has 20 hectares of land, which since 1987 has been planted at the rate of one hectare a year with Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Pinot Noir and Prosecco.
This is the zone of the Montello and Colli Asolani controlled denomination of origin, right on the border with the Prosecco di Conegliano and Valdobbiadene DOC. Serafini & Vidotto’s vineyards are along the right bank of the River Piave.
